Humble Beginnings

Our Goal

The name Altum comes from Christ's call to Peter: “Put out into the deep” (Duc in altum). Inspired by this invitation, Altum Studio brings together skilled makers to create thoughtful products designed to enrich the small moments of everyday life. Through every project, we seek to continue exploring, creating, and pursuing something better.

William Waris

Founder/DESIGNER

William Waris is a designer and craftsman based in Kansas City, Missouri. A graduate of Kansas State University with a Master's degree in Industrial Design, his work spans furniture, metalworking, leathercraft, woodworking and toy design. While studying in Italy, he learned traditional leatherworking techniques and went on to design a leather bag collection. Through Altum Studio, William creates thoughtful products inspired by tradition, and the belief that well-made objects are worth keeping.
