The Story of Altum

William Waris, the founder of Altum Studio, thought he wanted to build a business focused on making toys. On the first day he set out to begin, a woodworking accident resulted in the loss of half a finger. The piece of wood involved in the accident was originally meant to become a toy. Instead, it became something else, a crucifix. William made the cross as a reminder that our own sufferings can be united with the suffering of Christ, that even our wounds can become part of something greater. That crucifix became the first Altum Studio story. It still hangs in the shop today. What began as an accident was actually the shift for the beginning of Altum Studio.
